Photo of the Day – Condensation

Bedroom has 2 outer walls, a french window and ceiling that is someone else’s verandah, so is always cold. Even in this, a most mild winter we are waking up with the hint of the old glass leaf like frostings you used to see as a child when there was no central heating . When I was a fledgling teacher all those years ago and a complete nervous wreck about getting enough sleep before facing 100 or more inner city teenagers every day, I could not have the heating coming on an hour before we got up as the sound of it clicking in would wake me up, and the heat would send me back into a coma, so years later we continue to get up in the cold, which is probably much better for the constitution.

I would like to see those really lovely icy formations on the window again -like the one in this photo I found on the web, but do not really relish the thought of the weather that accompanies them. My  photo was taken as the ice was melting, so you can just see Mr P.’s green house and a couple of the large trees in the bigger gardens behind ours.

SONG OF THE DAY – Joni Mitchell – All I Want

A classic.

Photo of the Day – London – Room with a View

I took this picture yesterday when I visited a dear friend’s 3rd floor flat in North East London,  for a spot of rather nice lunch…well I am working all of today and late until the day before yesterday, so a moment of Friday social time was well overdue. I have taken to carrying my camera with me where ever I go, and if I do leave it at home by mistake I feel very under equipped. I noticed straight away when I walked into his lounge these images through the tops of 2 glass decanters and snapped away. Cropped it a bit and added the minutest touch of yellow to it and here it is – the view from his  window.

SONG OF THE DAY – Michael Macdonald -Reflections

I love this voice….. sigh….

Photo of the Day – Shadow and Sky

I took this picture last weekend in sunny Essex, on one of the fair estuaries in the area. That’s me, the shadow, the one with the very small head, and what seems to be a large stash of cake tucked in my knapsack. I took the picture while balancing on one leg…still hope for me then. Excited as we  are about to have 4 visitors for 4 nights, in our one and a half bedroom flat…that’s 6 people  -two are small-ish, so my posts might be small and hurried, or long and cathartic. Hopefully the sneezing from all the dust  will subside soon. I am wracking my brains for  cheap  (or free) things  to entertain a lovely young lady who falls over if she wears flat shoes ( ha ha hope you are reading this KS) a football ally for Mr. P. and  2 children who are just so excited about visiting us we may just have to sit on them for the first day. Thank goodness we all like colouring in…watch out for the art work too! Off to the train station to meet them now.

SONG OF THE DAY- Moves Like Jagger -Maroon 5 ft Christine Aguilera

I have been watching the video for this song for a few weeks and been very distracted by the visuals. My Mate VR mentioned how catchy she thought it was, so I decided to listen with out having to be distracted by Maroon front man’s  full frontal tatts and small ears. It is a nice little pop song which should get you jumping round the kitchen table….nice little melodic hook ( the whistle) and Chicy guitar.

Photo of the Week – Hot

We went to a wonderful music festival last weekend and I sadly still have the chest infection to show for it.

I am thinking my lungs were not really  helped by the very lovely  Mr Fire Starter who made the most marvellous bonfire I have every seen and  then preceded to soak it in so much accellorant that when the exceedingly finely crafted bonfire  was lit, it turned into a pile of 3ft charred embers in about 10 minutes.  But  for that 10 minutes, the heat was so intense that birds fell from the sky, sheep melted in the neighbouring fields and our silhouettes branded themselves into the marquee canvas as we ran for cover. Mr P.the Landscaper reckons no plant will grow on the site for about 4000 years…..And the smoke! Wow! So much for singing round the campfire..we were so far away from each other, sitting in the circle… it was more like campfire shouting…ha ha ha. The fire started to die down a bit and Mr Fire Starter threw another massive piece of furniture on it- I am sure it was  a  Chippendale.

20ft to 4ft in 10 minutes

I attempted to lead one  camp fire song with my guitar but had to stay on my feet- ducking the  massive wafts of smoke as they billowed towards  me every time I opened my mouth for a breath. The grass was  gone…completely black or vanished for about a  30ft bunker…like a large  alien flying-saucer had arrived from space…poor old sheep..they ‘aint gonna enjoy the rest of their grazing this year, unless they like baaaaah-becued soil.

The topic was hot…and boy it was….sizzling!

SONG OF THE DAY Cold as Ice -Foreigner

Can you see what I did there? ha ha. Some very nice vocals at the end, and for some sad reason I seem to know all the words to this. Ah well. We sometimes have no control over what we like as we often just love what we like and like what we know.(Genesis..the band not the biblical book) I will be more of a rebel soon.
