I wrote this post below  in January 2012 and am adding to it 7 years later

I have to say that I cannot  but wonder about parts of my life. When cleaning out the fridge today 7 and a half years later, I found that I still have the aforesaid jar of plums looking a little worse for wear, which probably says more about my levels of hygiene that the poor plums themselves. Now I am blogging rather than throwing many other concoctions which also look like they may have been there as long as the innocent plums… AND I am still wondering… can  I still eat them?

THIS IS WHAT WAS GOING ON IN JANUARY 2012 ( I was arranging Paradise!)

And my mind! Seriously, someone is messing with my mind. A few days ago I mentioned the fact that a jar of umobushi plums went missing. I looked in all the cupboards, had everything out of the fridge, went through the bin…you would too, as a jar of umobushi plums is like £12 ! It is  no picnic looking after your digestive system, I am telling you. In the end I surrendered to the fact they must have gone in an old bin and went back to fresh and wild,  whole food mania, or what ever it is called and bought a new jar. I opened the jar  a few days ago, and it has been in and out of the fridge a couple of times. So last night I go to the fridge   and wonder what the jar is behind the UPs? No blinking way! The old jar of UPs! What is happening here? I have only one possible explanation. Someone is breaking into my flat, stealing  japanese pickled plums and then putting them back a couple of weeks later, just to make me seem as if I am going slightly mad ( no help necessary)…The only explanation. So I am asking you nicely to stop it please.

Today I saw a pair of woodpeckers in the garden and while I was singing all the parts for Paradise -which is finally finished, a cat walked in front of my window, stopped and listened to me singing ha ha ! The list on my desk is going down a bit, so new things can arrived, I am sure.

SONG OF THE DAY A New Song which did not exist 7 years ago..every day of 2011 , I posted a song  from youtube…now I can post my own songs hurrah!

SONG OF THE DAY In your Eyes -Peter Gabriel

Yesterday I  posted Michael McDonald who was born the year of the Dragon and will be 60 on 12th Feb,  today Peter Gabriel who will be 60 on the 13th Feb this year. Funny that 2 of my favourite singers should be celebration the big 60 on almost the same day.

I was told it might be an eventful, possibly bumpy  year this year, so did a bit of research, and it looks to be a  bit brighter in many ways this year. I am going to make sure this year was a bright and sparkly as last year which was the year of the Hare ( Rabbit). So I got home to find that Mr. P was off at his local  secret garden/allotment with a few pals planting  little apple trees. They have all been named, to the right of the  the empty toilet( a plant pot!) the little apple tree with the label on, is now  called ‘Scarlet Dragon’ to celebrate the coming of the new year. I got there just in time to see the earth all nicely dug over and the soup and cake ready for the eating!

There are a few new people coming along with plans a foot for next year’s fruit and vegetable crop so that is good news.

I just go along to boost morale and eat the soup as I am more of a dreamer than a digger.

Happy Year of the Dragon. x

SONG OF THE DAY- Michael McDonald  -You Are Everything

mmm Start the CHinese NEw YEar with a bit of classic song and singing…..from the great MM -born in the year of the dragon!

I am a screamer when it comes to mice!  I walked into the kitchen this morning and one went scuttling across my path. AHHHHHHGGGGG! I jumped and screamed, and then spent the next three hours screaming at hand bags, soft toys and anything that moved in the kitchen.

banksy

They have found a new place to hang out in my kitchen, behind a built in set of bookcases. We spent most of the day on ‘mouse alert’, dusting, wiping, sweeping, looking behind every nook and cranny for tell tail signs (old poo) of the nasty little blighters. I found a pile of hazelnut shells and mouse droppings behind one of our speakers. SO much for spending the day composing!

So once again I had to move my old piano that has only got three castors and is really heavy. It is a lovely old Hopkinson, and I bought it for £200 when we moved in, 16 years ago. It is too big for the flat, but just has the most beautiful tone. I did not get it tuned for 10 years and it did not drop in pitch at all. We moved it this morning, with a lot of shouting and swearing, and it now sits right in the middle of our kitchen…ha ha! I can not understand how the mice seem to know when I am going to just hold out and do something creative, just for  for me. One appears, creates havoc and then I have to spend loads of time cleaning , blast……..
