Hexagonal Granny Squares-It’s Crochet TIme!

It has been 10 months since I put the finishing touches to my extraordinary crochet project. I crocheted a large double blanket in pure wool, using Rowan Colourscape. The blanket has kept me toasty all winter. Obviously, needed a break after that mammoth expedition into the world of crochet (not to be confused with the world of crotchet which is far more treacherous)

So I am off! Having ordered this fab cotton, and waited months for it’s arrival, and then three balls not arriving for anther couple of months until I reminded them, I have finally started my  rainbow crochet hexagrams. The first hexagonsI found the pattern on a lovely crochet blog, which I shall not mention unless you really push me, because it is too perfect and too popular. Their lifestyle is being sold and we all want it! I really want to see the person in question’s house on a bad day, when the partner and  kids have got the flu and the dog needs to go to the vet and the washing up has not been done for three days. Not that I am jealous of the marvellous looking lifestyle (yeh , right!) , but I think there has to be a backstage of madness behind all that order and beauty…or maybe I am the only messy one round here.

So the hexagons begin……watch this space…ha ha ha …paint drying might be more fun…Peace and Love x x

Well it had to happen one day…this is the nicest ‘mashup’ on Glee so far…Unpretty by TLC and I Feel Pretty from My Fair Lady ….it works really well together. There…my secret is out. I only watch Glee cos Mr P. is a big fan ( ha ha)

Kent Youth Singers

So off I trudged on the train from St Pancras International to Ashford International for a 3 day residential with the Kent Youth Singers and The Kent Youth Choir. I picked the right weekend to teach Snow Patrol…Cold Play and ‘snow flakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes! Now the Kent Youth Singers are what  I call a set of classy singers!

I was privileged to work with them.

They worked so hard under freezing conditions, learned all the songs from memory and sung 6 songs beautifully at the concert -‘Chasing Cars’ -Snow Patrol, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Make You Feel my Love’ Bob Dylan, She’s Like A Swallow’, “Lean on Me’ and ‘Viva la Vida’ mostly in 4  or 5 part Acapella –  which was 5 hours early due to 4” of snow and really bad weather conditions. Even with so much snow everyone managed to dress up for dinner on Saturday night..and there more than a few extremely high heels tottering through the snow to the that is dedication to style!

The Kent Barbershop serenaded us after dinner with some very stylish polished material.

Scott worked with the ‘Kent Youth Choir’ another amazing group of singers, and they learned some really challenging stuff, two Arvo Part pieces and excerpts from Bach’s Magnificat, and Scott rehearsed both choirs teaching some of his own arrangements of several lovely carol arrangements with Jazz trio …splendid…

A fabulous  3 day weekend and concert…..MORE!!!!!
