Oh botherations….My domain name lapsed and by the time I notice my blog was down and then I was in a real fluster. I have sort of sorted it, but it is probably going to take another couple of days before I can sort it out with the wonderful wordpress people who are at the beach today. It is going to be hot here, I worked like a Trojan yesterday so  I am going to the park……

SONG OF THE DAY  Minnie Ripperton -Loving You

Minnie Ripperton was only 31 when she died, this is one lovely song for a summers day

Back to  public transport, I have been collecting all my train tickets this year and here they are! (well most of them apart from the ones that went in the laundry)

Having had a  Big Wellie blog last week, I had to share with you these silver wellies I saw on the London Underground yesterday. Wild and very shiny! But not a speck of mud on them anywhere.

I wonder if they have been anywhere near a muddy field. Perhaps they are about to go to the Glastonbury Festival, and get all loved and mudded up. At the moment they look like one of the cyber men’s footwear. Cool and very shiny. Would look great with a silver shiny shell suit! And in London you could get away with wearing an outfit like that and you would not get a second look!

SONG OF THE DAY – Starman- David Bowie

IT’S TALK OF CYBERMAN WHOT DUN IT!

And what a moment it was…You will not have any idea what I am blithering on about if you are not an Australian soap addict. Its my only vice…honest. 20 minutes a day when I actually sit down and do nothing except watch Neighbours. I have no other bad habits, apart from giving too much good advice and getting annoyed if people talk too much about themselves, and …ok I am messy and…um yes there are more…ok ok. But Neighbours addicts will know that this one has been running and running and running and running…..and finally Andrew cracked just as Sky was being taken away by her step mum. A tear was shed…..

SO I bet you just wished you had not looked today…sorreeee

SONG OF THE DAY -Van Morrison- Brown Eyed Girl

Funny cos Van the Man has not had a look in yet and he has had some sparkling moments in my life. SO….Here’s Van. Lypsyncing in 1967! funny bit of film…I had no idea the track was so old!

In fact it is Miss Scarlet from Cluedo -who was until 1963 called Miss Scarlett. Lots of interesting history about the game, and   the characters and how it changes over the years both here, and across the Atlantic. An example is that the Reverend Green is always called Mr Green in America as the games folk did not think the Americans would like the idea of a murderous Vicar.

When I taught A’ level music composition, we did an exercise where we all had to take a different character from the game and make up a short musical theme that would describe the character of that person. The other members of the class had to guess which one it was, from the musical ‘theme’. Went quite well.

It has changed again and not certain rooms have disappeared. I think there is a swimming pool and a spa instead of a billiard room and a cellar.

SONG OF THE DAY  LADY IN RED -CHRIS DE BURGH

I absolutely hate this record, probably more than any other record of all time…It is like a really really bad version of ‘ Wonderful Tonight'(1977) by Eric Clapton, and  written 11 years later. Bill Bailey did a spoof called Cousin in Red and called this song ‘simpering mawkish cack’ which I feel is putting it mildly. If you really want to freak out a band  at a gig,  who are a bit up themselves, when they ask if anyone has any requests..try shouting..’.doost tha kno ledy in red’ in your best lancastrian accent (I have tried it), that takes the wind out of everyone’s sails.

I once had the pleasure of going camping  in a very remote part of Norfolk and stayed at Mona Snuffling ‘s farm  when CdB was playing in the local country house…so we had to hear the whole set wafting cross the valley…deeeeep joy! So instead of posting the song, which I feel I cannot,  I am posting an interview from room 101 and a spoof of the song by the lovely Bill Bailey, who I have to agree with whole heartedly!!! Stick it in the bin.
