So Eurovision 2011 has been and gone. I am sorry, but I have to uncover yet another pet hate of mine. When a performer winks at the camera, I have to have a sick bag on hand. Yuk yuk yuk! And all you lovely Americans need not pretend you don’t know what I am talking about, ‘cos I heard that more people in the States watch Eurovison than the Superbowl.
I was sadly not at home to watch Eurovision ( boo hoo hoo ha ha) this year, but when I saw some of the repeats, I caught one of Blue – the UK entrants wink at the camera during their performance. Hideous! Horrible! Cheap! It has a place next to White loafers in my list of nasty things wrong with the so called civilized world.
I have to say they were not the only ones who were using the ‘winking thing’…other culprits included Iceland and there were more……Boys, the winking just ain’t doing it – zero points from me immediately if someone winks at the camera. Now I need to find if anyone else has this violent reaction, as I might be able to help some Eurovison Artistes score better next year with my handy hints and tips, which would include….never ever, ever wink at the camera!
SONG OF THE DAY
The most covered Eurovision Song Contest song is Domenico Mudugno’s Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu, written by him too, Franco Migliacci (lyrics)
also known as Volare. The song has been covered by famous stars such as Dean Martin, Cliff Richard, David Bowie and many more…here is the original.
